Bonnie pops in with a quick "Hello" for (((everyboardie))). RL has been rather boring in her corner of the world. The biggest excitement is that it is to rain for the next few days. Normally she doesn't like rain but it has been very dry this year and at least she has several good books and a couple of movies to keep her busy indoors. She leaves hugs for all and runs back to work.

Will's RL is quite boring too, but Will can live with boring. ;) Better than living in Interesting Times.

Will asks Bonnie if NW Europe can have her rain when she is finished with it?

Will likes the sunshine, but his garden is unhappy about a winter where there was no rain to speak of in either November or February (usually the wettest months).

Jules is verra verra tired. Over the last couple of days she's either been at work or asleep. Sometimes she's both at the same time. Meh!

Right now she's sitting on the doorstep with a cup of tea and listens to the wee burdies chirping. Dinner will have to make itself today. :D

Bonnie tells Will that she would be happy to herd the rain clouds in his direction after they are through watering her neighborhood. She found out that they received 5 inches of rain yesterday. Image

Docandie's area will be welcoming the weather system that is shuffling its way south from the bay area today and is supposed to arrive tomorrow.
(For those that don't know, California is so long that if it were turned on its side, it would be in three time zones!)

Docandie is hopeful significant precipitation will fall in her area - snow is predicted for Sunday down to 2000 ft and as her home is about 2700 feet, if it does snow, there will be enough to measure.

Unfortunately the rain is too late to insure a great wildflower bloom and according to a pal who is one of the owners of a small hotel, several groups have cancelled for the last week in March.

Docandie forgot to take photos of the pies she made up for Pi day. Savory was a sausage pie and sweet was an apple raisin pie. As she did not want to pack on a lot of extra pounds, she gave large portions to neighbors.

The iPad madness is incredible, with people camping out overnight so as to be sure to get one soon after the stores opening. One neighbor sent his (19-year-old) son down to the Northridge mall yesterday afternoon to stay overnight and get into the store first thing. Docandie has not yet learned if he was successful.

She really wants one of the new ones because of the brilliant "retina" screen with millions of pixels more than most flat screen TVs but she is going to wait until May because in past years that has been when Apple rolled out significant upgrades to hardware. When she got her MacBook Pro in '06, she waited until May and got the newest version with (the then brand new) dual core memory.
The iPad she got to see and touch last Saturday had the 64GB memory and a Dual-core Apple A5X custom-designed, high-performance, low-power system-on-a-chip with quad-core graphics.
There are rumors of a Quad-core chip in the works and there's a possibility that might be available in May, thus the waiting.
In the past Docandie sometimes became impatient and being the techie geek that she, is, jumped in too quickly. Now she is a bit more conservative (in techie mode, not in politics!!)

Speaking of iPads.
Here's a brief video of what NOT to do with one.

Toothy would just like to visit Ireland. Lots of people who've been tell how how fabulous it is. She will get to go one day.

Toothy has lost her voice at the moment [pauses while cheers subside] but at least she managed to sing at the weekend in a concert that she'd been looking forward to; The Armed Man by Karl Jenkins. Some amazing music. One hardened member of the audience admitted he had a tear in his eye during the performance... Toothy didn't think she sounded that bad. ;) She had to mime the last two pages though as her voice finally gave up at that point.

Ah well, as long as the voice comes back by Thursday night, all will be well. Toothy is the Prompt for the local theatre group's performance then and needs to be able to be heard if anyone forgets their lines. As if, eh? ;) She likes being the Prompt. :D

Before she leaves, Toothy leaves a freshy baked banana cake, hand made chocolates, a few bottles of beer, wine, assorted spirits and some soft drinks for the boardies to enjoy.:D
If all is not lost, then where is it?

Hazel very much wants to visit Ireland. Actually an advert has just come on advertising Northern Ireland, she thinks it's funny how these things work out. Hazel's daddy is a Belfast native but she hasn't been since she was little, and then she almost got blown up.

Eek! Toothy is relieved Hazel survived. She finds it hard to imagine the Troubles over in 'Norn Iron' (as it says at the airport!) as everyone she's met over there is so lovely and friendly. It's hard to believe things could have been so bad with such wonderful people. Toothy ikes Northern Ireland and visited a few times both through her job and also when Elder Toothlet was considering Queen's Belfast University - she chose an English uni after all that, but they enjoyed the trips over there all the same. :D

Docandie would like to visit Ireland to see where some of her ancestors lived. Some were from the Dingle peninsula and emigrated before the Revolutionary war. Some were from what is now Northern Ireland and were here even earlier. Apparently Docandie had quite a few ancestors with itchy feet.

Bonnie would also love to visit Ireland. She has a branch of the family from there but their itchy feet took them first to Canada before ending up in San Francisco in the mid 1700s. Bonnie is not afraid of the rainy weather there because she grew up in Humboldt County in northern California. It rains quite a bit there and natives are more likely to rust rather than tan like those who live in southern California. ;) The last week in Napa Valley was very damp with two storms coming in off the Pacific. Saturday there was even hail. :o Fortunately Bonnie bought rain boots a couple years ago which came in very handy. Now she just needs to find a good raincoat. That should clear up the weather. ;) On the bright side, her artichokes perked up quite a bit with the rain. Bonnie snags some wine from Toothy's stash and leaves some pasta and focaccia bread for the boardies to enjoy before dashing out again.

Will looks in horror at where the 3rd person thread has got to - only 3 away from the end of the page.

This will never do. With a great effort, Will heaves the thread back up to the top and wishes everyone a Happy Summer Time :D. Usually it rains, snows or freezes on the day the clocks go forward to show everyone that summer is really a long way off, but today we have blue skies and 20 C. 8-)
