Wonderful topic! :)
Very interesting! :)
Let me tell about myself...
When I was 4-5 years old I wanted to be a princess. In a long big pink/gold dress and certainly with a little gold crown on a head! :) And my fiancé would be surely… Chingachguk-Big Serpent (from books Fenimor Cooper about north-American Indians)! :)
Then I have been watched film about cosmos… soon after that I read first sci-fi book about cosmos adventure… And I decide to be a cosmonaut! Definitely! :)
When I was 10 years old I watched film “D’Artanyan and three musketeer”. And soon after that I read such Alexander Duma book! Of course, I must be a musketeer! (By the way, my daughter repeated this my choice when she was 9-10 years old! Although she hadn't information about her mother's choice!):)
Some times later I got rid of these child’s things and wanted to be just a teacher in primary school (perhaps, because for my mother is a teacher in music school ). And chemist in the submarine ( from one else book: "The mystery of two oceans" - about science-research adventures in deeps oceans )!
And so on, and so on, and so on…
And when I was 14, our class went to excursion in the Computer Center at the Polytechnic Institute. I saw Big Computer with many little different-colors lamps which are blinked. Big Computer told ‘’ZH-ZH-ZH’ and ‘Knock-knock’ and I fell in love HIM in the first sight! :) (It was about 30 years ago ;))
Now I am IT-specialist so far. But very want to work with animals or with little children. But now it’s impossible (only at home, after worktime! :)) by different reasons (the first of all: I have no enough power for it! :)…).
By the way, I wrote poem one year ago: “Who I want to be…?”. In each stanza I described different professions. And each description start with “I don’t want to be …” (f.ex: “I don’t want to be a business-woman, with cold mind, at the High Position, far from own family;” etc – of course, this is translate from Russian). And last line is: “I want to be a human!”.
Thus, When I was 40 I understood – who I want to be :)
Best regards! :)

Famous artist. I got the artist bit ok, but not awesome enough to be famous...... unless I put 4 bricks on a pillow and call it art. Can't sink to that.

Just put three bricks on a cushion, then!!

When I was younger, I wanted to be a hairdresser.

By the time I left school, I had no idea what I wanted to be, so the secretarial course I'd just done became my career - Secretary/Admin Assistant.

I recently realised that the job I really want is Rob's!!

I wanted to be a Cowboy Girl, (that's what I called it), then a policewoman because they wore leather gloves, which I think were important for grabbing crooks but also looked nice. That went on for a few years then working in a newsagents seemed to be the thing to do, I could read all the comics and have crisps If I wanted. (Early '60s, only two flavours of crisps, plain but included a portion of salt tied up in blue paper so you could add as much as you liked,I always added too much. And Cheese and onion flavour) I also wanted to be a hairdresser for a while, then an actress. I had a great imagination :)
I'll tak' yer heid aff, ya big pile o'jobbies.
