None of those.

C'mon, it's at the start of a famous sequence from a famous movie. Not at all obscure. Any hints I give will give the game away.

First thing that sprang to my mind was Hot Millions, but ruled that out immediately(too modern looking).
Then thought maybe War Games, but apparantly that's out too.
I'm not up on the more modern flics so much,so i'll do a complete guess and venture V for Vendetta?

You got warm with V for Vendetta. That movie has a connection with the movie that I did the screenshot. Not with the actors, though.

Now I've made it easy...

I love the Coen Brothers movies as well. Raising Arizona is one of my very favourite, favourite films.

Nobody wants to guess at my screenshot? It's not like it's an obscure movie. :(

The device in the screenshot is a metal detector that the main character just walked through. That's all you need to know.

I dunno, I don't recognise it.

Not a clue. :? Total Recall - that's the only metal detector I can recall in a movie.

Ugh, no. And I already gave a big clue away when I said there was a connection to V for Vendetta. Three connections, in fact.

Actually. it was the 'newer film' thing that clinched it for me. I was thinking older cause the shot you posted made it look like an old sci-fi film

Yes, hooray! raptornx1 has got it! It's The Matrix. Specifically, the bit where Neo goes through the metal detector in the lobby of the building where Morpheus is being held. I love the dialogue that follows (copied from IMDB)...

[Neo walks through a metal detector in the lobby and is approached by a security guard after it goes off]
Security guard: Could you please remove any metallic items you may be carrying, keys, loose change...
[Neo opens his trench coat to reveal dozens of guns underneath]
Security guard: Holy shit!

Well done, raptornx1.
