But weren't they doing Raising Taxes? Still, this will suit Moist more as a venture capitalist excursion - and taxation isn't really in the Anhk-Morpork spirit so a bit of Industrial Steamrollering should be quite a good/better fit with the Cunning Artificers at least

It was specifically said that it was not the Moist taxation book. Also, RS has a new main character, so even if it mentions Moist, he won't be the protagonist.

Chances are major industry changes are coming and the city will have to keep up and it will need money for that. or they find a way to tax the new steam contraptions some how.

They definitely will have to tax something; Vetinari wants to build the Undertaking. However, they have the Device to power the Undertaking, and either way, it would be silly for the city to tax something the city will operate. Steam has been in use already to heat UU. What else could steam be used for? Maybe a railway outside the city; it would complete for long distance hauling but there would still be short haul work for the traditional methods so it wouldn't put large numbers of people out of work. A Stanley Steamer type of vehicle might compete; they were marvelous things.

Depends on how steampunk he decides to go with it. if he goes full on they could get steam powered everything. and considering how much they embrace new things it wouldn't be surprising to see some spectacularly trivial steam powered equipment.

One would think that Moist has to be somewhere in it. Or, perhaps Adorabelle might be new main character (since she was pretty resourceful, is theoretically still the inheritor of the Gran Trunk, assuming it was sold back to her family after the events of Going Postal). I would imagine that Harry King would be someone involved as well, and it would be nice to see him more narrative time.

One must assume that this takes place on or around the same time as Snuff, which is five or so years after the events of Thud (and probably 3-4 years after Unseen Academicals), since it would be strange for this to be taking place before the Snuff time period.

All I hope is that Pterry somehow doesn't write this in the overwritten Victorian novel style of Snuff and Dodger.
